Editorial Standards & Disclosures

Commentary is opinion — but the facts underneath it shouldn't be. This page lays out the rules I hold myself to, and the things you deserve to know about how the site is run.

Sourcing

  • Claims of fact link to a primary source whenever one exists — court filings, government documents, on-the-record statements, or named reporting.
  • When a source is anonymous or sensitive, I say so plainly and explain why.
  • Statistics carry their original source and date. I will not quietly round, requote, or strip context from numbers to make a point.

Opinion vs. reporting

Most pieces here are opinion — that's the whole point of the site. They are labeled by category (Opinion, Hot Take, Rant, Satire) so you know what you're reading. Where a piece includes original reporting, I'll mark it as such and describe how the information was obtained.

Corrections

When I get something wrong, I fix it visibly. The post is updated with a dated correction note at the bottom — never silently edited. Major errors are also flagged in the next newsletter.

Spotted something? Send it through the contact page with the quoted line and a source. The faster you give me evidence, the faster the fix.

Conflicts of interest

I take no money from political parties, candidates, PACs, or advocacy groups. I take no payment to write specific pieces. If that ever changes — including any sponsorship of the newsletter — it will be disclosed at the top of every affected piece and listed here.

AI use

Editing tools and search may use AI. The arguments, framing, voice, and conclusions on this site are mine. No piece is published as raw AI output.

Right of reply

If you're named or quoted in a piece and want to respond, use the contact page. Substantive replies will be added to the article or, when warranted, given their own follow-up post.
